Atelier 35 prezintă în premieră expoziţia personală “Convex instinct” a artistului Sorin Dan Cojocaru. Galeria expune două dintre instalaţiile aparţinând acestei serii: “Woman of Willendorf “ şi “Luxuria”.
Tehnica laitmotiv a seriei “Convex instinct” este cea a capitonajului. Acesta a rămas emblematic prin funcţia de izolator fonic al uşilor directoriale de acum câteva decenii, învelind totodată fotoliile din spatele acestora şi pereţii ospiciilor. Capitonajul este abordat ca o structură modulară a instituţiei adevărurilor confortabile. În medicină, “capitonaj” se numeşte apropierea chirurgicală a planurilor unei cavități.
“Woman of Willendorf “ face o rememorare semantică şi formală a lui Venus în cheie actuală.
"Luxuria" reprezintă unul din cele 7 păcate capitale, cel al desfrânării.
Sorin Dan Cojocaru transpune în vizual prin elemente recognoscibile, emblematice, speculaţii proprii pe baza unor aspecte ale relaţionării interpersonale, ale comunicării, generalităţi culturale sau politice sau detalii izolate ale istoriei recente.
Formele obţinute fie reprezintă componente ale unor coduri care scoase din context creează situaţii insolite, fie evidenţiază particularităţi şi conexiuni altfel insesizabile. Dacă un punct de plecare al demersului artistic a fost asocierea elementelor aparţinând unor structuri diferite, în ultimele sale lucrări el pune în discuţie însăşi soliditatea structurilor în sine.
Sorin Dan Cojocaru s-a născut în Bucureşti în 1977.
Şi-a realizat studiile artistice la UNA Bucureşti, Accademia di Brera Milano şi ADBK München. El lucrează în medii foarte variate: pictură, desen, instalaţie, computer art, video. A avut expoziţii personale şi de grup în Milano, München, Valencia, Perugia, Paris, Reykjavik, Bucureşti, Timişoara, Chişinau, Cluj. Proiectele sale cele mai reprezentative pentru ultimii ani sunt “Mexican standoff” - 2011, “Traficul de lumină” - 2009, “What you see is what you get” - 2008.

Atelier 35 is presenting in premiere the solo show of Sorin Dan Cojocaru under the title of “Convex Instinct”.
The gallery will display two of the installations of this series, “Woman of Willendorf” and “Luxuria”.
The common thread of the “Convex Instinct” series is that of padding. The pad remains emblematic in our minds as the phonic isolator of the directorial doors of the few decades ago, as well as of the armchairs` upholsters behind those doors or lunatic asylum walls` padding.
The padding is as a modular structure of comfortable truths` institution. In medicine, “padding” is the name for the cavities united through surgery.
“Woman of Willendorf” makes a semantic and formal reconstruction of Venus.
“Luxuria” represents one of the 7th deadly sin, that of lust.
Sorin Dan Cojocaru recreates using emblematic and easy to recognize elements, through and in visual, his own speculations regarding interpersonal connections, communication patterns, cultural and political generalities or even isolated details of the recent history.
The forms got during the artistic process represents the components of some codes, which, taken out of their particular context create unusual situations or emphasizes particularities and connexions otherwise undetectable.
If initially, as a point of start in his artistic endeavour was the association of different and various structures, during his last works, the artist debates the solidity of the existing structure in itself.
Sorin Dan Cojocaru was born in Bucharest in 1977.
He studied at UNA Bucharest, Accademia di Brera Milan and ADBK Munich. He works with painting, drawing, installations, computer art or videoart. He displayed in single or collective exhibitions in Milan, Munich, Valencia, Perugia, Paris, Reykjavik, Bucharest, Timişoara, Chişinau, Cluj. His most representative artistic projects in recent years there are “Mexican standoff” - 2011, “The light`s traffic” - 2009, “What you see is what you get” - 2008.
